Good questions

Frequently asked questions.

What homeowners ask us most. If your question isn't here, just call.

How much does a paver patio cost?

A typical backyard patio in Chicagoland runs from a few thousand for a small one to twenty thousand or more for a large patio with seat walls and lighting. Every project is different. We come out and give you a clear price before you commit to anything.

How long does a patio installation take?

A standard paver patio takes about a week, weather depending. Bigger jobs with walls or fire pits can run two to three weeks. We tell you the schedule before we start and we keep you posted as we go.

Do you do work in winter?

Yes, when the ground allows it. Hardscape and stone work can often happen well into late fall. Holiday lighting and snow-prep work runs through winter. Spring and summer book up early so call ahead.

Do I need a permit for a paver patio?

Most flat patios at grade do not need a permit, but every village has its own rules. We pull permits when needed and handle the village paperwork. You don't have to deal with it.

Pavers or concrete, which is better?

For Chicagoland weather, pavers usually win. Concrete cracks with our freeze-thaw, and a crack means a full slab repair. Pavers flex with the ground, and if one ever lifts we can pull just that paver and re-set it.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Quotes are free and there is no pressure. We come walk the yard, listen to what you want, and email you a clear plan with the price.

What kind of warranty do you offer?

We stand behind our hardscape work for the long term. If a paver settles unevenly because of how we built it, we come back and fix it. We will go through the details when we send your quote.

Can you fix a sinking or uneven patio someone else built?

Often yes. We can pull pavers, fix the base, and re-set them. Sometimes the original install was so bad that a rebuild is cheaper than a repair. We will look it over and tell you straight.

How do I prepare for the day you start?

Move grills, planters, and outdoor furniture off the work area. Mark any sprinkler heads or wiring you know about. Tell us where we can park the trailer. That is about it.

What payment methods do you accept?

Check or cash for most jobs. We can also do bank transfer. We do not take credit cards directly. We will send a written quote and a small deposit holds your spot.

Do you do small jobs?

Yes. A short walkway, a few garden steps, or a single garden bed are all welcome. Smaller jobs sometimes wait a couple weeks while bigger ones run, but we get to them.

How far do you travel?

We work all over the Chicago metro area, from the city out to the far suburbs and the North Shore. If you are anywhere in Chicagoland, just call us.
